Why Should You Use a Mattress Topper?

Posted by on Sep 15, 2012 in Hotels

The mattress topper is one of those things that can make all the difference to the longevity of a mattress and can be especially useful for a number of reasons.

Essentially, a mattress topper is a cover that goes over the top of a mattress. These covers can range in size and either fit over the top of the mattress or over the entire mattress, completely. Of course, there are a range of designs and materials on offer for different functions and uses.

So, why use one?

Well, mattress toppers are used for a wide range of different uses and are often used as a protection from dirt. If you fear your mattress may suffer from dust mites or spores or something else that may cause an allergy, then a mattress topper can also be of use as it acts as a barrier between person and mattress. Essentially, it is a great addition for anyone who wants to focus on cleanliness.

It’s also a great asset in the protection against fluids. Though mattress toppers of this kind have no padding, they do have water repellent properties and will slip over the mattress and below the sheet. These are ideal for people with small children who may wet the bed.

The mattress topper is not used solely for hygiene purposes and can also be added to the bed to give an extra level of comfort. Mattress toppers or protectors are often padded and so add additional support and comfort to those looking for a better night’s sleep. These look similar to a slimmer version of a mattress and are often just laid over the original mattress. They can be used to minimise the sagging areas of a mattress, as well as bumps or any other issues to do with the age of a mattress. They are not a sure fire way of compensating for a low quality mattress, however they do help in the fight against discomfort.

Many people use them for support. These supporting mattress toppers are especially popular with people who are ill and bed bound for some time. The medical reasons for their use can really be of benefit and allow the ill person to get a better night’s rest and so hopefully help to speed up their recovery time.

What to Expect From a 4 and 5 Star Hotel

Luxury hotels are becoming more and more popular, with that in mind what should people expect when they stay at a 4 star and 5 star hotels?

When picking which hotel you wish to stay in, it is often the number of stars each hotel has you will look at first. It is commonly known that the higher number of stars a hotel has, the better they are, however these stars are not awarded to a hotel, they are allocated by themselves or by a private company. The hotel star rating system is internationally recognised as the hotels overall quality. However, certain countries may regard a 2 star hotel as a 3 star and vice versa.

Here is a basic guide of what to expect from hotels that are rated:

  1. Star: Basic room options, shared bathroom facilities and meals are self served.
  2. Star: Basic room options, colour TV and an in-house bar and restaurant.
  3. Star: Multiple room options, restaurant, gym facilities and conference rooms/facilities available.
  4. Star: Multiple rooms/suite options, restaurants and bars on site, business facilities, concierge services, swimming pool, gym and crèche.
Four Star accommodations offer a very high quality of service, and will have modern facilities, these hotels are commonly located in downtown areas of cities and close to major attractions. The food at a four star hotel will usually be provided through an adjoining, high rated, restaurants and bars that serve gourmet food. The service received will make their guests stay as comfortable as possible, through internet access for business travelers and access to a concierge. Special care is taken in the design of a four-star hotel. That includes an elaborate lobby, upscale furniture and stylish accoutrements in each room.
  5. Star: Luxury accommodation with all of the above facilities and more.
Five stars is the highest rating a hotel can received, only the most luxurious accommodations gain them. The highest standards are met by the staff and the service will be exquisite. They will offer the best food, drink, entertainment and accommodation. Often, 5 star hotels offer spa and gym facilities within the price of the room, hence the higher cost per room.

Explore and Relax During Your Getaway

Vacations often mean travelling. Expensive hotels sometimes dismiss the idea of a luxurious relaxation. Staying in a 3 star hotel will give you the best of both worlds’ travelling and pampering.

Earning leave from work to have a vacation is one of the best things a boss or an employee can have. Many people use this opportunity to bond with their families and travel. Of course, they prefer to go to places they have not been before. As such, people seem to put a premium on where they will go, sometimes leaving behind the importance of where they will stay.

There is nothing wrong with this notion. It is natural for people to be excited to see a new tourist spot or historical landmark. Many families taking a vacation usually become exhausted during their travel because of all the activities. Imagine bringing the kids, attending to their tantrums and needs, while on a hike. This may affect the family bonding. This is why you have to book a comfortable, temporary home wherever you stay, one that is much like your home.

Luxury is Equal to Money?

Expensive hotels ironically do not always leave room for a luxurious, relaxing stay. With marked-up food and unreasonable room prices, the practical family or group of friends would rather go to a budget inn. It takes a lot of effort to achieve comfort away from home, what more if you are staying in small room at an inn?

That King and Queen treatment may be achieved when you choose to stay in 3 star hotels. Prices are not as steep as the five-star establishments, but their service more than pays up for a worthy vacation. The facilities are perfect to bond with your loved ones.

Tight Family outside the Home
Most three-star hotels have special offers on triple or quadruple-type rooms, which can accommodate 3-4 persons. This way, you do not have to book multiple rooms, or have to get out of your room to check the kids, or to chat with your friends. These types of rooms are perfect for late night conversations or even small games. After that, the comfortable beds and air-conditioning should make you doze off quick.

If the city you are planning to visit has no remarkable food, or if you have already tried them out, call for room service. This should not take so much time out of your itinerary, as you would just be eating inside the hotel. There is nothing more hassle-free than eating together and not thinking of anything else.
