3 Ways to Change The Look and Feel of Your RV

Posted by on Nov 8, 2012 in Planning

Traveling in a RV or Motorhome is an incredible way to enjoy the open road and appreciate the countryside. One thing that all RV enthusiasts can agree on is that driving is about enjoying the journey just as much as the destination. The only problem with owning a Motorhome is that the costs of ownership are much higher than regular cars and trucks. The good news is, however, that there is a way to save a significant amount of money over purchasing a new RV, and still get the custom look you were after.

Since many people aren’t able to afford brand new Motorhomes, one thing that they have been doing that has helped them to save a lot of money is purchasing used RV’s and then having them renovated. Buying used saves a lot of money over the price of a comparable model that is brand new. The 3 main areas of focus for RV renovation are:

  1. Flooring- Just as updated floors can add a real touch of beauty and personality to your home, installing new floors in your RV can really help you personalize the space. There are a wide variety of materials that you can choose from which include hardwood, tile, laminate, and much more. Going with a hardwood floor is going to give you a beautiful surface that is not only durable, but also easy to maintain.
  2. Cabinets- The second main area of focus for RV renovation is the cabinetry. If you are buying a used RV to save money it may be outfitted with cabinets that are out of date and are lacking storage space. You can either remodel your existing cabinets or have them replaced entirely with new ones that will meet your needs. Some older cabinets are designed to hold older model TV’s which are big and heavy. Remodeling those cabinets or replacing them with new ones that are designed to hold newer model flat screen TV’s. This can increase the amount of storage space in your cabinets and reduce the overall load being carried.
  3. Furniture- The 3rd main way to improve the look and feel of your RV is to change the furniture. You can reupholster your existing furniture or replace it entirely. There are several different RV furniture outfits that you can go to, to choose your new pieces. Then you can have an RV renovation shop do the installation to make sure that they are properly mounted.

Few Tips to Improve Your Travel

Travel does not have to be stressful if you plan well. Some people get very nervous when they have to go on a trip as they feel that they will forget something and their travel could be a disaster. However if you plan well, then you can soon become a seasoned pro at travelling and you will not fear any travel hazard. This article will give you a few tips to improve your travel.

The first thing that comes to mind when you have to travel is packing. You should first take a pen and paper and make a detailed list of all the items that you will require on your trip. You should also carry basic medicines with you if you are going on a long trip. Try to minimize the amount of clothes that you are carrying by mixing and matching your wardrobe. You should be able to wear your garments at least 2-3 times on a trip before they need washing.

If you are travelling by air for a long duration, then it is very important to stay hydrated throughout the trip. Long distance air travel dehydrates your body and hence it is important to avoid excessive alcoholic drinks during your trip. Do also make it a point to get up from your seat and take a few steps every few hours. This will improve the blood circulation in your body. All these tips will ensure that you don’t suffer from severe jet lag problems once you reach your destination.

One thing I don’t leave without on any trip is my digital camera. It is important to capture all your important moments so that you can relive those memories long after you have returned from your trip. Before you go on your trip, ensure that you have carried sufficient memory cards and batteries for your camera. You should also download all your previous photographs on your computer and carry a blank chip so that you can take maximum photographs on your current trip.

You should also do some research on the modes of local transport in the country that you are visiting. Hailing a cab for each trip may turn out to be quite expensive. You should explore other options such as trains and buses. You will not only save on some costs but also get an opportunity to enjoy the other modes of travel. Some of the routes are very scenic and it may make much better sense to travel by bus as you will be able to enjoy the natural beauty.

So many people feel as though the exciting times of their lives are over once they start using a mobility device. This does not have to be the case because there are now ways that you can do your favorite activities while staying comfortable. It is even possible to take your wheelchair on your next cross-country vacation, and the whole process is easier than you think.

Pack Light

While it may be impossible to pack a light suitcase for your next trip, you can pack a light wheelchair. Choose a chair that is comfortable to sit in but that can easily fit in the back of your trunk.

When you travel with a light wheelchair, you will be able to go on tours without worrying about getting tired or weak. You can see all of the beautiful sights without fear of losing energy before you are finished. You can even take the lightweight wheelchair into cabs, airplanes or trains, which means you can take advantage of all modes of transportation.

Experiment with each wheelchair before you buy it. Practice folding and unfolding it to make sure that you can use it without any problems. Be familiar with it before you take it on your vacation.

Get a Wheelchair Lift

If you will be taking your own vehicle, invest in a wheelchair lift. This will give you the ability to carry your wheelchair across the country no matter how large it is.

If you rely heavily on your wheelchair, you can use the wheelchair lift to transport it easily. You can find a lift for every type of vehicle, which means that you can take your car, truck, van or SUV on your vacation. You’ll have easy access to your wheelchair at all times, and you won’t have to worry about finding a way to store your chair.

Do Your Research

Before you go on your trip, check out the different venues that you will be visiting. Find out where the access ramps are, and gain special permission to enter tours if necessary. Make sure that each site that you are visiting will have everything prepared for you so that your tour can be even more enjoyable.
